GENERAL INFORMATION
 
LOCATION The Workshop is taking place in the Institute of Mathematics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, room 417, from 9h30 to 13h00 and from 15h00 to 18h30. The address is

The Institute is located in Akademgorodok 45 minutes from Novosibirsk sity.

REGISTRATION All participants attending the workshop and all accompanying persons must register. Registration and distribution of the conference material starts on Monday, August 21, 9.00. The participant fee of USD25 is required if you wish to attend the events of the social program.
TRANSPORTATION Public transportation in Novosibirsk is by bus, tram and subway. The fare is about 2-4 RUB for a one-travel ticket.

From Airport to Akademgorodok Novosibirsk airport is located 1h10 from Akademgorodok. To reach Akademgorodok, you can use the bus #108 joining the airport to Akademgorodok (18 RUB; duration: 1h10; departure every hour). The conference hotel is located near the bus terminal.

From Akademgorodok to the Institute of Mathematics The Institute of Mathematics is located 10 minutes from the hotel.

HOTEL ACCOMODATION The Organising Committee has appointed GOLD VALLEY HOTEL (ZOLOTAYA DOLINA) for hotel accommodation. Hotel rates are 300-500 RUB per night. The hotel is located in the very heart of Akademgorodok, in 10 min walking distance from the Institute of Mathematics.

USEFUL TOPICS Climate August is generally sufficiantly warm with temperatures around 20 C. Don't forget your umbrella however, since it may also be rainy.

Currency and Banks The currency unit in Russia is the Russian Ruble (RUB). Coins: 1, 5, 10 and 50 KOPEJKA; 1, 2, 5 and 10 RUB. Notes: 5, 10, 50, 100 and 500 RUB. As of August 2000: USD 1 is about RUB 27.8; DEM 1 is about RUB 13; FF 10 is about RUB 39.
Foreign currency and traveller's cheques can be exchanged in banks (open Monday-Friday 9.30-13.00 and 14.00-17.00). A bank office is located nearby the Hotel.

VAT and Tipping VAT and tip are included in the prices. It is not customary to tip taxi drivers.

Credit Cards We advise you to bring some cash since credit cards are usually not accepted in local shops and ATMs are practically not available. Cash withdrawals with major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard/Eurocard, American Express) can be made at the postoffice near the Hotel (open 9:30-13.00 and 14.00-17:00).

Shopping Shops are usually open Monday to Sunday from 9.00 (10.00) to 19.00 (20.00). Some food shops are open 24 hours.

Electric appliances The voltage in Russia is 220 AC (50 Hz).
