October 6, 2013, will be the 105th anniversary of the birthday of Sergei L’vovich Sobolev (1908-1989), an outstanding mathematician of the 20th century. The Sobolev Institute of Mathematics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences jointly with Novosibirsk State University are organizing the International Conference “Differential Equations. Function Spaces. Approximation Theory” dedicated to this event. The conference will be held in Novosibirsk, August 18-24, 2013. The range of topics that are within the scope of the conference includes (but is not limited to): partial differential equations, equations of mathematical physics, ordinary differential equations, delay differential equations, operator theory, spectral theory, function spaces, embedding theorems, approximation theory, cubature formulas. The scientific program of the conference will include plenary lectures (40 min), invited lectures (30 min), short communications (20 min), and posters. The main sections of the conference are
