Finite Groups and Their Representations, Groups of Lie type, Simple Groups, Permutation Groups, Coherent Configurations, Schur Rings, Graph Isomorphism Problem.
 

Summary of main results:

The description of minimal permutation representations of finite orthogonal groups (with V.D. Mazurov, 1994)

The description of minimal permutation representations of finite exceptional groups of Lie type (1996-1998)

The theorem on the structure of a finite group in connection with the property of its prime graph (2005)

An adjacency criterion for the prime graph of a finite simple group (with E. Vdovin, 2005)

The recognition of simple linear groups over an arbitrary finite field of characteristic 2 by their element orders (with M. Grechkoseeva, 2008)

The affirmative solution of Shi’s problem (1987): If a finite simple group and an arbitrary finite group have the same orders and sets of element orders, then they are isomorphic (with V.D. Mazurov and M. Grechkoseeva, 2009)

The description of cocliques of maximal size in prime graphs of all finite simple groups (with E. Vdovin, 2011)

Every finite Schur group is metabelian and the number of prime divisors of its order is at most 7 (with I. Ponomarenko, 2013)

If L is a finite simple classical group of sufficiently large dimension, then a finite group G with the same set of element orders contains exactly one nonabelian composition factor S and S is a classical group defined over the field of the same characteristic as the base field of L (2014)

If L is a finite simple group of Lie type of sufficiently large Lie rank and G is a finite group with the same set of element orders, then G is squeezed between L and its automorphism group (with M. Grechkoseeva and A. Staroletov, 2015)

The isomorphism problem for central Cayley graphs over finite almost simple groups can be solved in polynomial time (with I. Ponomarenko, 2017)

The result on the divisibility in groups that contains as special cases the Frobenius theorem (1895) on the number of solutions to the equation x^n=1 in a group, the Solomon theorem (1969) on the number of solutions in a group to a system of equations having less equations than unknowns, and the Iwasaki theorem (1985) on roots of subgroups (with E. Brusyanskaya and A. Klyachko, 2019)

If L is a finite nonabelian simple group distinct from the alternating group of degree 10 and G is a nonsolvable finite group with the same set of orders of elements, then the solvable radical of G is nilpotent (with M. Grechkoseeva and N. Yang, 2019).

The 2-closure of a supersolvable permutation group can found in time polynomial in its degree (with I. Ponomarenko, 2020).

A generalization of Hall's theorems on finite solvable groups to association schemes (with P.H. Zieschang, 2020).

The 3-closure of a solvable permutation group is solvable (with E.A. O’Brien, I. Ponomarenko, and E. Vdovin, 2021).

A new critrerion of nonsolvability of a finite group (with Zh. Wang, M.A. Grechkoseeva, and A.Kh. Zhurtov, 2022).

The 3-closure of a solvable permutation group can be found in time polynomial in its degree (with I. Ponomarenko, 2023).
