If arriving by plane
International airport Tolmachevo in Novosibirsk is located 18 km to the west of the city. It is one of the most developing airports in Russia with the federal status and the largest transit hub beyond the Ural mountains for the major routes connecting Europe and Asia.
The simplest way to reach Akademgorodok from Tolmachevo is by taxi. You can book a taxi online on the official website of the airport, or on the website of the taxi company, or in the dispatch booth on the ground floor of the Airport Terminal (operates 24 hours a day) where cabs are available at all times. The estimated fare for a taxi from Tolmachevo to Akademgorodok is 700Rub (~ $10) (one-way).
When taking a taxi in Novosibirsk, we encourage you to use only those ordered from taxi operators or which have taxi company logos. Otherwise you should inquire about the fare in advance in order to diminish the risk of an unpleasant surprise. (Also if it is possible, call a taxi by phone instead of flagging one – it is cheaper and more reliable).
There is a public transport connection between the airport and the Novosibirsk Train Station: bus no. 111э or minibus no. 312. See below the suggested route from the train station.
If arriving by train
The simplest way to reach Akademgorodok from Novosibirsk Train Station is to take a taxi (see above). Moreover, if you arrive late at night it is the only way to reach Akademgorodok. The estimated fare for a taxi from the Train station to Akademgorodok is 500Rub (~ $8) (one-way). During the day, between 7 am to 10 pm, there is a connection by public transportation:
- take metro, green line, from the station “Ploschad Garina Mihaylovskogo" (located nearby to the train station) to the station “Krasnyi Prospekt” and then make a transfer to the red line and take a train to the station “Rechnoy Vokzal” (see Novosibirsk Metro Map);
- from the bus stop “Rechnoy Vokzal” take the minibus no. 35 to the terminal bus stop “Tsvetnoy Proezd”.
