AnnouncementThe International School "Inverse Problems: Theory and Applications" will be held in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk on August 11 - 19, 2002.Main purposes of the School are: to give to theorists and practicians an overview of up to date achievements in the theory of inverse problems, along with prospectives of their applications in the science and engineering. OrganizersGovernment of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous OkrugUgra Research Institute of Information Technologies Sobolev Institute of Mathematics Institute of Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Geophysics School Themes- theoretical background of inverse problems research;- inverse problems of mechanics, geophysics, tomography, ecology; - numerical analysis of inverse problems and applications. ProgramThe School will be arranged under the general supervision of Academician Mikhail M. Lavrentiev and Academician Anatoly S. Alekseev. We have invited for lecturing the world-leading specialists on the subject of the School.The School will consist of lectures delivered by invited speakers in the mornings (preliminary list of lectures) and research seminars in the afternoons where the participants will get a chance to make their reports (the schedule for seminars will be completed as soon as the applications arrive). The Organizing Committee also plans the conducting of the round-table discussions devoted to unsolved theoretical and applied problems. Financial and organizing provisionThe direct work of the School will be organized by Ugra Research Institute of Information Technologies (with the support of Government of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug).Local Oraganizing Committee: Gennady N. The Organizing Committee of the School supposes to give to the participants of the School certain financial support in order that the accommodation in Khanty-Mansiysk is not exceed 10$(USA) per day. Besides of the accomodation, the other type of financial support is possible. General informationThe International School "Inverse Problems: Theory and Applications" is one of scientific events organized by Ugra Research Institute of Information Technologies. Thus, the III-d International Conference "Modern Problems of Informational Technologies and Space Monitoring of Siberia" was held in June 2001 in Khanty-Mansiysk. It is scheduled to organize the International Schools in Khanty-Mansiysk on the annual basis. School topics will be concentrated on mathematical simulation in natural sciences, including the problems of tomography, mathematical methods for geophysics, and other.The extensive cultural program expects participants of the School.
