Useful InformationThe town of Khanty-Mansiysk is the capital of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug (District). The town is situated in West Siberia, on the Irtysh River near its confluence with the Ob River. It was located in the picturesque place at the foot of steep mountains with the thick cedar forest growing on them. Khanty-Mansiysk is buried in verdure and has original architecture. In fact, Khanty-Mansiysk is capital of the Russian oil and gas producing industry. Therefore, the deluxe accommodation, hotels, sports objects are under construction, the international airport has been reconstructed, highways are built. The excellent Okrug Rehabilitation Medical Center, the Center of Arts for Gifted Children of the North have appeared. The Skiing Centre is erected where the Biathlon World Junior Championship will be held in 2001 and World Biathlon Championship will be in 2003. The Center of Applied Art and Craft of the Northern People, State Okrug Museum of Nature and Man, unique Park-Museum in the open air were created and successfully operate. Native and foreign companies and firms open their representative offices in Khanty-Mansiysk. The city has the most modern communication facilities with cities of different countries.
